We are very excited! Nancy Richey just discovered a photo someone placed on Ancestry, purported  to be the photo of James Morrison, the father of Henry Clay Morrison. The photo seems to be period, and to bear a convincing resemblance to the son. James Morrison died around 1861, leaving young Henry Clay, an orphan at the age of four. Morrison was raised in his grandfather's home across the road from present day Morrison Park Holiness Camp Meeting grounds near Glasgow Kentucky. We are very excited to see this long sought after photo.

Morrison Park Memorial Donations in Memory of Carl Kenneth Jackson

     We are so very thankful for these wonderful donations in memory of Mr. Jackson. Every cent of these funds will go directly toward the restoration of the Morrison Park Holiness Camp Meeting in Glasgow, Kentucky. A Memorial page for each donation will be placed in the Memorial Album at the Morrison Library. Carl Jackson was a most faithful and generous supporter of the restoration efforts at the park. The Loss of A True Angel of Morrison Park, Mr. Carl Jackson

                                                     
     A true Angel of Morrison Park has died in Louisville Kentucky. Mr. Jackson has been the greatest sponsor and contributor of the restoration effort at the Morrison Park Holiness Camp Meeting in Glasgow Kentucky. Carl was a nephew of Reverend J. L. Piercy, one of the earliest evangelist and supporters of the Morrison Park Camp Meeting. Piercy went around the world in 1909 with his dearest friend Reverend Henry Clay Morrison, the park's founder.
     Mr. Jackson loved Morrison Park, and was so very excited about the restoration which began in December 2010. Mr. and Mrs. Jackson have been Angels to us beyond words and description. Carl. and his son, Steven, (who has also been a great supporter of the park), visited the park last summer, the day before the dedication of the Kentucky Historical Marker which honored the Park and Reverend Morrison. It was such a pleasure to get to meet Mr. Jackson, and to know that he was pleased with all the work and restoration that had thus far been done.
    The Barren County community, the Park Board of Directors and all the many people who have helped and been involved with the restoration of Morrison Park owes much thanks and appreciation to Mr. and Mrs. Carl Jackson. We could not have even begun to have accomplished all the things that have been done, without their wonderful generosity. We extend to all the Jackson family our deepest condolences, our prayers, and our many thanks for all Mr.Jackson has meant to us. We are very saddened, and feel such a tremendous loss.

                                 
    Carl Kenneth Jackson 87 of Louisville, KY died peacefully with family and friends by his side Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at the Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital in Louisville.  Born in Barren Co. he was the son of the late Ernest Harlow Jackson and Nancy “Nannie” Piercy Jackson.
Mr. Jackson was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church, Allen Masonic Lodge #24 where he served as past Master and secretary, D.A.V. Chapter #20, American Legion and the V.F.W Post 5906.  He was previously employed in Glasgow at Haynes Furniture, Hall Studebaker Dealer, Ford Furniture, Shirley Furniture and was co-owner of J & F Furniture.  He was manager of the Uptowner Motel in Glasgow and the Holiday Inn in Elizabethtown, KY before later retiring from Lowes Company.  Mr. Jackson also served two terms on the Glasgow City Council.
Survivors include his wife Mary Lou Harris Jackson of Louisville; a son Steve Jackson (Katie) of Nashville; three daughters Ann Attal of Austin, TX, Debbie Payton (Wayne) of Louisville, KY and Kathy Hassee (Tom) of Norwalk, OH; grandchildren Corey Jackson, Matthew Jackson, Aaron Sutherland (Kristy), Marla Kicklighter (Aaron), Scott Hassee (Rebecca), Marissa Walter (Tyler), Travis Payton, Angela Attal, Michael Attal and Malia Attal; great grandchildren Alaysia Jackson and Summer Attal Shields.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Roberta Moran Jackson, a sister Margaret Franklin, three brothers Joe Lee, Thomas and Paul Garnett Jackson, a grandson Mitchell Attal and a son-in-law George Attal.
Funeral services will be 2:00pm CST Sunday, January 18, 2015 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Saturday from 1:00pm until 5:00pm CST at the Arch L. Heady-Hardy Funeral Home 7710 Dixie Hwy. Louisville, KY and on Sunday from 10:00am until time for the services at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.
Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorial contributions to the Bethel United Methodist Church or the Morrison Park Camp

Memorial in Memory of Joe Combest

The Barren River Rod and Gun Club has made a$50.00 donation to the Morrison Park Camp Meeting Restoration, in honor of one of their founders, Mr. Joe Combest. We are very thankful for this donation in memory of Mr. Combest.

Special Visitors To Morrison Park, Tommy and Bobby Morrison

    Over the years, many names and faces have made history in endurance racing. The name Tommy Morrison is one of the most recognizable. His career includes Corvette racing experience in the SCCA Showroom Stock series, IMSA GTO events, Escort Endurance Series and the Corvette Challenge Series.
Morrison began racing Corvettes on his own, with little or no sponsorship. But Morrison’s day in the sun would come, as would the opportunity of a lifetime. Morrison made history when he and a team of hand-picked endurance drivers set three world records in March 1990 using a Morrison Motorsports ZR-1 with a stock LT5 engine. The Morrison team — which also included Chevrolet's John Heinricy, Jim Minneker and Scott Allman, and drivers Kim Baker, Don Knowles, and Scott Lagasse — set new land-speed and endurance records at time trials at Fort Stockton, Texas . . . some of which had stood for half a century.
Morrison’s 24 hours averaging more than 175 miles per hour bested the previous record, set in 1940, by nearly 15 mph. The ZR-1 set a new world record for both 5,000 miles and 5,000 km. It was a proud moment for Chevrolet and for Morrison. An ad run soon after the event proclaimed “In 24 hours, we did what nobody could do for 50 years.”
Morrison has been one of Corvette’s top promoters for more than three decades, and Morrison Engineering still races Corvettes in endurance races across the country.

Bobby Morrison is a musician /singer with the ministry "Unbroken", who performs in revivals and crusades all over the country. Bobby performed several songs for us at the Morrison Library and is a most talented young man. Morrison hopes to return to the park at some later date, and hopefully someday perform for the public here.

   Special thanks to Matt Mutter, Roger Gentry and the Barren County Correctional Center work program for the mowing and weed eating of the park grounds,

     Bob and Edie Bell for all their hard work providing the wonderful flowers that graced the lawns, the donation of many arts and crafts for roller coaster,and many other jobs too numerous to mention.

   Robert Barbour spent many, many hours on the grounds this summer and fall, clearing, cleaning, painting, donations and doing much needed work.

   We have had a very productive year and have accomplished much. A lot more of the park has been cleared, with many improvements to the grounds. The restroom building is very near completion. 

   The plans for 2015, includes the expanding of electricity to the buildings on the park, and making decisions regarding a design for the reconstruction of a new tabernacle. We will continue to clean and restore the grounds, and we plan to have several worship services this year with guest ministers as the Lord will allow. God bless you all and please continue to pray for our efforts in restoring our dear old Morrison Park Camp-Meeting.    Gary Bewley
